What on earth is CMS?
Stands for Content Management System. If you have this kind of website, it means you can log in as the administrator and
update your own content. CMS can also be introduced to a website in bits and pieces - in other words only sections (like a News Page for example),
are updated by the website owner. CMS always means that there's a database sitting 'under' your website. Rover has a variety of excellent tools
on offer - with support and training. A GOOD graphics package is a must for people who want to do this, since you will always want to resize
images and photos to a suitable web-friendly size before uploading them. Great for people with some extra time on their hands or companies that
have the admin staff available.

Use "Refresh" more
Your PC and the server at the office caches web pages (keeps temporary copies). This is pretty nifty for sites that you might visit often, like your internet banking site. It makes the pages load faster. But if you don't see what you expect to see on a web page, it may be old content. Click on refresh or hit ctrl-F5 for a hard refresh, to make sure you are seeing the latest content.

Use an email address in your domain.
Even if you don't know what you're doing, it'll look like you do. Using an email in your domain (like pam@roverprod.co.za) also helps to promote your web address and entrench your branding.

Get ADSL quick-quick
If you use the internet at all - even just a couple of times a week and you are using a land-line or ISDN, I can just about guarentee your phone bill will come down. You never again will have those woopsies where you leave the line up all night by mistake and you'll actually start using the Internet the way you're supposed to.
ADSL Packages for low-requirement home users are readily available now. And you can upgrade any time you like, so start small if you like. Check our Products page

Always include your pricing info
If you really want to invite clients to do business, then make sure you're pricing info is available. You want to risk frustrating customers 'cause you're scared your competition sees your pricing?? That just doesn't make sense.

Put info in databases
It might sound like overkill, but it almost never is. Even if you have a very short list of products, maybe your customers would like to be able
to sort them in different ways - alphabetically, by type, or by price perhaps. Once your items are in a database you can take charge of adding, updating and deleting.
You can change an advertised price at any time of day or night using a secure easy-to-use update screen that will present information to you in a way you understand.
Trust me its easier than on-line banking.

What's an alias for?
You might find that your company name is a little long and tedious to spell/type in as a website address or domain name.
Sometimes the domain name you'd prefer just isn't available, but becomes so later on.
Shoreline Properties has the domain name www.shorelinekzn.co.za, but their website can also be reached via the aliases of www.shorelineproperties.co.za and shorelineproperty.co.za.
You want visitors to be able to guess your domain name. Aliases are very inexpensive to own.
